About The Financial Education Institute of CanadaOur HistoryThe Financial Education Institute of Canada was established specifically to provide the financial information and education Canadians need. The Institute traces its roots back to 1984 when author Graydon G. Watters founded Financial Knowledge Inc. as a storehouse for the books he was writing. Recognizing a growing need for comprehensive and unbiased financial information, Watters left a successful career in the world of retail investments and financial planning to develop the educational materials that no one else was offering. From the start, his approach to financial education was comprehensive, engaging and empowering. Today, the Institute partners with businesses nationwide to provide their employees information that is relevant, meaningful and practical. Specially-written textbooks, workplace seminars and planning tools are used to help each individual to achieve a realistic understanding of what financial success is all about. Building upon the foundation of traditional books and workshops, the Institute currently offers distance learning through online education with dozens of lessons on a diverse range of money and life topics. The Institute's holistic approach encourages individuals to recognize that their future financial security is in their own hands. By engaging in the Institute's simple process, participating employees can make the most of the group plans available to them – and plan sponsors can know they have followed best practices in meeting their fiduciary responsibilities. Seminar participants experience no pressure or disguised sales pitch because there is no "product" other than knowledge. The Institute does not sell financial products. Its only business is education. |
